Stainless steel 316L (UNS S31603) is a low carbon version of 316 stainless steel (“L” stands for Low Carbon) with a carbon content of ≤0.03%. It significantly reduces the risk of carbide precipitation (sensitization) during welding or high temperature environments, thereby avoiding intergranular corrosion and is suitable for more severe corrosive environments and welding processes.

Chemical equipment: reactors, heat exchangers, acid storage tanks (resistant to sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, etc.).

Medical devices: scalpels, artificial joints, vascular stents (316L complies with ISO 5832-1/ASTM F138 standards).
