Stainless steel 316 (UNS S31600) is an austenitic stainless steel, which is widely used due to its excellent corrosion resistance, high temperature strength and good processing performance. It is an upgraded version of 304 stainless steel. By adding 2-3% molybdenum (Mo), the ability to resist pitting and crevice corrosion is significantly improved, especially in chloride environments.
